What is your favorite part about working at FOSS?

I love teaching kids to be confident in the water. Not only to be confident, but to love the water just as much as I do.

What is your favorite FOSS story?

My favorite Foss memory when FOSS Ankeny played the Foss Olympics. These were made up challenges and obstacle courses made by our shift coordinators to let us have fun, and a way for us to get to know one another. It was so much fun laughing at each other and competing and just having fun in the water after a long shift.

What is your personal favorite water activity?

My favorite activity to do in the water is tubing. I have loved tubing since I was a little girl. Every year, my family goes up to Minnesota and tubes all week long. Some of my best memories are tied to the water and tubing.

Tell a story about a student who experienced a major “lightbulb” moment when you were with them.

My favorite “lightbulb” moment happened just a few weeks ago. It was in one of my baby classes and we were working on Humpty Dumpty. My kiddo was so close to doing it by herself, but she was struggling with turning back to the wall by herself. She finally got it and did a Humpty Dumpty all by herself! She was so excited and wanted to keep doing them all class. I was jumping up and down clapping for her and mom and dad were so excited!! Mom started tearing up and dad kept telling her how proud he was of her. It will forever be one of my favorite memories as a FOSS teacher.
