What is your favorite part about working at FOSS?
Watching kids learn how to be safe in the water while having fun!
What is your favorite FOSS story?
I have a swimmer who I have taught since they were in babies. In babies, he would be so excited to do his back floats that he would vibrate with excitement. He still does it sometimes but now he is learning to flip all on his own.
What is your personal favorite water activity?
I like jet skiing! I haven’t done it in forever, but it is so much fun!
Tell a story about a student who experienced a major “lightbulb” moment when you were with them.
I worked with a student who was in his 4th time in a middle one. He struggled with his flips. One day it was just him so I decided we would spend pretty much the whole time on flips as he was solid on everything else. He would try to swim into the back floats which would make him sink. I showed him what he was doing, the re showed him what he should be doing. He did it almost immediately after that! Mom and I both screamed in excitement! He kept doing them and was so proud of himself.
