What is your favorite FOSS story?
I was teaching a class how to do swordfish kicks, and a girl was struggling to keep her body up. After a couple laps, her kicks got stronger, and she did it perfectly! She was so happy and proud, and she gave me a huge hug! Now she’s doing her side breath like a pro!
Tell a story about a student who experienced a major “lightbulb” moment when you were with them.
I had a girl in a Little 1, she didn’t want to put her face in the water and would flail her arms when doing a back float. Slowly throughout the quarter she became more and more independent, eventually using a power pack alone doing scoops and kicks! One day I had her do pancake flips and I asked her to do some scoops before flipping and she was so excited she forgot she didn’t have her power pack on and she swam all by herself! Her mom was on deck cheering her on with me and she was so proud of herself when she got to the island!
