Share your favorite FOSS story:
My favorite memory of Foss was during summer 2022. I had two students that were very afraid of the water. The moment I connected with them was during back floats and I asked what Disney song they wanted. They instantly became more comfortable around me, and we ended up making a lot of progress that quarter because of that bonding moment.
What is your personal favorite water activity?:
My Favorite water activity is hanging out on my family’s boat in the middle of the lake and jumping into the water on a hot day.
Can you recount a student of yours who experienced a major “lightbulb” moment when you were with them? What was it? How did the child react? How did the parent react? What was your reaction?
One of my favorite light bulb moments was a Big one class. One of my students that I had been swimming with all quarter looked at me and decided that he could swim on his own without my help. Once he did this, I looked at his mom and the Deck Assistant to see that they were so happy they had tears in their eyes. I told him after he completed his stroke that I was so proud of him for believing in himself. Has to be one of my favorite memories ever.
