How long have you worked for FOSS?

5 months.

What is your favorite part of working at FOSS?

Teaching kids lifelong skills!

Share your favorite FOSS story:

I had a student that was afraid of the water when we began the quarter. But after our 8 weeks were up, he put his face in and swam all the way to the island!

What is your favorite level/age to teach?

I love teaching water adjustment skills to Little 1s!

What is your personal favorite water activity?

Getting a workout in by swimming laps.

As a child, how did you feel about the water? Did you have any particular challenges or lack of confidence you needed to overcome to learn to swim well?

I spent my summers swimming in the lake at my family cabin. I was very comfortable with water!

Can you recount a student of yours who experienced a major breakthrough moment when you were with them? What was it?

When reluctant swimmers finally accomplish a skill, we all get so excited and cheer. Kids – and their parents – get a huge smile on their face!

What is your favorite swim lesson activity to do with kids and why?

I like teaching the Butterfly. It’s such a good challenge!

Please share anything else you’d really wish you could tell parents about you as they bring their children to FOSS:

I always have told parents that we love this program – I bring all 3 of my kids here! My daughter has been here for 3 years and we have always had a great experience. Time with my kids is precious, and I try to only spend time doing activities that I wholeheartedly believe in.
