Do you have any nicknames students call you?
Everyone calls me Teacher Leo or just Leo.
How long have you worked for FOSS?
What is your favorite part of working for FOSS?
Making kids laugh.
Tell us your favorite FOSS Story.
One of my swimmers could only speak Spanish and one time she asked for a “candy ball.” I said, “Un que? (A what?)” And she said, “Un candy ball (A candy ball).” And I said, “A cannonball?” And she said, “Si!”
So, I understood candy ball as a cannonball from then on!
What is your favorite level to teach and why?
My favorite level to teach is a M2 because they’re brand new to Freestyle and Backstroke and I teach my students very specific skills and usually by the end of the session, they’re beasts.
What is your favorite swim lesson activity to do with kids and why?
My favorite swim lesson activity are Boil Kicks. You can move the students fast and give them a good workout!
Anything else you really wish you could tell parents about you as the bring their children to FOSS?
Let your kids love water BUT have them also respect the water. And also, no need to fear, Teacher Leo is here!
