How long have you worked for FOSS?

I have worked with FOSS since March of this year!

What is your favorite part about working for FOSS?

My favorite part is the moment of joy on the parents’ faces when they see their kiddo do something they’ve never done before! That moment makes me proud to be a swim teacher.

What is your favorite level to teach and why?

I like different levels for different reasons. I like Littles classes because I get to see so much advancement in such a short period of time. I also like Bigs because I feel I connect with those kiddos more and you can give feedback and they can understand more clearly what I’m asking for and adjust that way.

What is your favorite skill to teach and why?

I love humpty dumptys and chop-chop timbers. Not only are these extremely important skills to learn, but they are often the kids’ favorite part of the lesson!

Can you recount a student of yours who experienced a major “lightbulb” moment when you were with them?

I had a kiddo in a Little 3 who was not fully understanding tiger paddle with the flip, or really flips in general, and he was the only one signed up for this class so we worked really hard at these flips. One day he did it all by himself and grandma and I both just stared at each other in amazement because I had to repeat the same phrase, with different wording and examples, and nothing ever sank in. But this one day I said nothing different, it had just clicked! Sometimes it just takes practice and patience!
